Services That May Affect Wait Times

Below is a description of services that may potentially influence wait times at Cabinet JBM.

By indicating your interest in these services—even though faster access is never guaranteed—you broaden the available options and increase your chances of receiving services that match your needs.

Telepractice (Virtual Services)

Some of our clinicians work exclusively online. For this reason, telepractice services at Cabinet JBM may sometimes be available sooner than in-person services at the clinic.

Telepractice offers great flexibility, can make it easier to access appointments more quickly, and may better fit your schedule. You benefit from the convenience of virtual appointments while receiving the same level of expertise and quality of care as with in-person appointments.

Communication and Language Assistant

At Cabinet JBM, access to services may sometimes be faster with communication and language assistants than with speech-language pathologists.

Assessment Only

Cabinet JBM clinicians may occasionally have one-time availability to provide assessments only, which may allow faster access to this service.

Please note that the “assessment only” option includes an assessment only and does not include therapy appointments.

This option may be beneficial if it is exactly the service you need (for example, to receive recommendations, guide next steps, or support certain school or preschool requests), without planning to begin therapy.

By selecting “assessment only” when submitting your service request form, you increase your chances of accessing this service more quickly, as long as it is the option that best matches your needs.

Priority Assessment

By selecting the “priority assessment” option, you are indicating that you would like to follow a complete pathway (assessment, followed by therapy if appropriate), while preferring to access the assessment as soon as possible, even if therapy services cannot begin right away.

Cabinet JBM clinicians may occasionally have one-time availability to complete assessments, which can allow faster access to this step.

After the assessment, if a need for therapy is identified, you will be placed back on the waitlist in order to begin therapy appointments as soon as availability arises.

This option may be particularly helpful if you are hoping to obtain an assessment quickly (e.g., recommendations or a report to share with a school or preschool setting), while still planning to pursue therapy afterwards.

However, it is important to note that by choosing this option, you understand that there is no guarantee regarding the timeframe to access therapy after the assessment. In addition, depending on the length of the wait and the person’s development over time, it is possible that an assessment completed earlier may no longer reflect the person’s current profile when therapy becomes available, and a reassessment may then be needed.

Scheduling (Flexibility)

At Cabinet JBM, we understand how important flexibility is when booking appointments. However, it is important to know that evening and weekend time slots are in high demand, which results in more limited availability.

Greater flexibility in your scheduling availability can have a direct impact on how quickly you are able to access services. We therefore encourage you to view this flexibility as a way to optimize your chances of receiving an appointment sooner.
